Success Story: Rocco
Rocco, a one-year-old Husky, and his companions live in a tent outside of a homeless youth services facility. They have been homeless for over a year. They walked into our veterinary partner’s office in San Francisco with their pet and all their belongings. Rocco was missing an eye and had protrusions coming out of the eye socket. They were unaware of how it happened but knew Rocco needed help. Rocco was given to his companion from another homeless person when he became too much for that person to handle.
Our veterinary partner knew to call Feeding Pets of the Homeless™ right away. Rocco was diagnosed with a ruptured eye. We quickly worked with our partner veterinarian to coordinate enucleation surgery. Enucleation is the removal of the eye that leaves the eye muscles and remaining orbital contents intact. Since Rocco was undergoing eye surgery, we were also able to help get Rocco neutered. Feeding Pets of the Homeless™ contributed $697.77 towards Rocco’s surgeries and our partner veterinarian covered the rest of the cost. We could not have improved Rocco’s quality of life without the help of our generous veterinary partners and donations like yours! Thank you and we hope you consider making a donation so we can continue assisting pets like Rocco.
