Wyatt (2 years) and Morgan (4 years) are lab mixes. Their dad, Ted, lost his job and all three live in a trailer in the desert without hookups. Homeless shelters that allow pets

Most homeless shelters do not allow pets. When Pets of the Homeless hears of one we are pleased beyond words! This is one way to give homeless the services that they need to get out of homelessness with their companions. This is the latest to our list.

There have been comments about some homeless treating their animals with cruelty; dogs tied up tightly, twisting to be freed or being hit; skinny dogs/cats in poor health. As in the case of child abuse, such instances of animal abuse clearly call for action. Any such treatment, should be reported to the local Animal Control or Humane Society. Grants provide over 7,000 pounds of pet food to the homeless in Reno, NV

Pets of the Homeless received a grant for $2,584 from the WHC Foundation, a local private foundation that makes small grants exclusively to animal organizations that are 501(c ) (3) entities. Their hope is to inspire other private foundations to follow suit.
