How To Become a Volunteer Recruiter
Pets of the Homeless is a national organization and we can sure use your help in recruiting collection sites in your community. Use the form below to volunteer. Once you let us know that you are willing to help we'll email you our collection site kit, our brochure and application form for you to review. After, if you have questions be sure to let us know.
Places to recruit are places that you might already have a relationship with the owner or manager. They include veterinary hospitals/clinics, groomers, pet food stores, boutique pet stores, trainers, doggy day care and other places. We have schools, chiropractors, dentists, real estate offices, government offices, pharmacies, tire stores, pet cemeteries, hair salons, banks and other businesses as well as other nonprofits as collection sites.
Sometimes the owner/manager will want to think it over and that's fine, leave them a brochure and application or email them if you are recruiting by phone. But if you do get them to sign up, just send us the information on the application and we'll take it from there and send them a kit, the decals etc... If you need us to mail you additional supplies of brochures and applications let us know and we'll put some in the mail.
Sometimes our volunteer recruiters would rather start on the other side of the equation by talking with food banks, soup kitchens, pet food pantries and homeless shelters about distributing donated pet food. This makes it easier when talking to a potential collection site because there is a "need" and they could help. Check the distributing organization pages often as we add new agencies, sometimes daily.
