Homeless people with pets often times give more to their pets than to themselves, so on Saturday, in Carson City, Pets of the Homeless hosted a free pet wellness clinic to help homeless pets and take a burden off of owners.

“Our mission to do wellness clinics across the country is that we want communities to be safe from parvo and rabies. Our organization sponsors them with the hard costs, so for the vaccinations the syringes- any other hard materials that they need.” Said Genevieve Frederick, Founder and President of Feeding Pets of the Homeless.

The first 100 pets in line went through a veterinary exam, vaccinations, licensing, nail trimming and went home with food and supplies… all for free.

“All of the people who are here today are all volunteers; all the doctors and tech staff… everyone is here doing this because we want to make our community safe.” Said Frederick.

Pets of the Homeless, also known as Feeding Pets of the Homeless, is a national non-profit organization registered right here in Nevada.

“Since we started in 2008 we have treated over 20,000 pets, either through emergency care or through one of these wellness clinics.” Said Frederick.

The community is greatly impacted by the opportunity Pets of Homeless supplies for pet families in need.

“Not only does it take care of animals who are in need of help, but it also makes the community safer and provides a great benefit to the owners of these animals.” Said Bob Crowell, Mayor of Carson City.
