Success Story – Doodle

An employed homeless woman who is living in a camper in Oneonta, NY for the past 6 months called Pets of the Homeless™. She called concerned about her dog, Doodle, a one-year-old female Pit Bull Terrier who hadn’t been eating for 5 days. We approved an examination at a participating network veterinarian.
After the exam, the veterinarian recommended and we approved blood work and x-rays. The Dr. called and said the blood looked good, and the x-rays showed something by the liver; either a mass or foreign body. The veterinarian then recommended and we approved exploratory surgery. The surgery estimate was in the range of $1,200 – $1,500. The owner put down a $600 deposit.  The surgery included: injections, iv catheter, anesthesia and medications. We contributed $881.50 towards Doodle’s care. A large sheet and tennis ball were removed from Doodle’s stomach!
